I'm home! And very happy to be back. Not that it wasn't incredible but it's nice to be on our sunny shores again back with some lovely folk I missed a heck of a lot. First note from the adventure! I got a new camera bag, to house my very beaten up ol' camera. This year there is a loose plan to finally replace the beauty.

The camera bag is from a Korean company called Herringbone and they do camera stuff good. I spotted it on our very brief stop over in Seoul (it was -1 degrees and I was not dressed for it!) and I've loved it everyday since. You can even watch a fancy video about it.

We've finally got our Christmas tree at my flat, a wee one that costed a bomb but for the smell Christmas it's given our house it's worth it I say! Plus the lovely decorations I got in Mexico last year now have a place to stay for a wee while.

And in the spirit of Christmas I've decided to do a little giving. This wee blog now has 95 (formal blogger followers) and my wee facebook page 75 likers. Thanks guys! I never thought wee Make Believe could be so grand! So I've decided to put together a Post Christmas Hamper O' Goodies (hamper is such a lovely word) to be given away when either one hits 100 because 100 is a very nice number.

Oo I'm waffling on, as I do. Every liker and every follower will be put into the draw- so if you follow in another manor please like Make Believe on facebook to 'be in to win'.

I have not yet complied said hamper but I image it to have a bit of everything, a map! some map magnets! a charm necklace or two! cards! a trip fund jar (if I don't sell the lot this Sunday) etc etc. Perhaps it shall be called 'whatever I can find hamper'.

Unfortunately there is a bit of a catch with the size of the map and bottle to post overseas, so if the winner is further a field they will receive everything but those bad boys and then I shall redraw for a lucky runner up based in NZ. I hope that sounds alright!

Not sure if I've talked about this much but I work for a wonderful wee company called Pauanesia. The store and brand celebrates New Zealand with an ever-changing array of home textiles, ceramics, jewellery and craft and I think it's pretty bloomin' good. As a work place and a company.

Anyhoo- I've been working hard with the owner and Zeald to put together our brand spanking new website. It's just been launched and I reckon you might like it- or your mum will!

How far exactly is 15km? Quite far right? I remember at primary school they told us from our classroom to the McDonalds was 1km and I've kept that as my gauge ever since. So to the classroom and back, a good few times I guess. Not too bad- I think I can make it, plus it means I get to pedal my way across the Harbour bridge and that seems pretty grand.

If you have a bike you should sign up too! It's all for a good cause, the TelstraClear Challenge is in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation - Auckland and so far its raised $45, 231, my $65 entry fee included. It could be $45, 296 if you signed up. Why not right?

Christmas. It's coming.

My dad always says 'Christmas is coming!' even on Boxing Day. And he's right! But now it's coming a lot faster than it feels in January. Only a few weeks! I've made a pledge to only buy handmade, or from small independent companies this year or of course make my own gifts (bar one thing which I had already bought, oop) My own little way of joining the Occupy movement (though I am still hoping to camp a night in Aotea Square because I don't know when I'd next get the chance to do that!).

Anyway- if you'd like to do the same here are some fabbo events coming up to get your shop on at.

Kraftbomb. The original and always awesome Auckland Craft Fair.
There's one this Sunday and then another for those last minute presents on the 18th of December.
11 - 2pm at the Grey Lynn Community Centre.

The Devonport Craft Market. Their special outdoor Christmas Market runs along side the Devonport Christmas Festival (think Santa Parade and music) and is always a delightful day.
Next Sunday the 4th of December from 10 - 3pm in the park by the ferry building!

And then the big kahuna of markets. The Auckland Art and Craft Fair in Aotea Centre, still charging its donation entry but always worth it. On Saturday 10th December from 11am to 3pm.

I'm working on lots of new things for them. Let's hope it all comes together. Sneak peek of one below!

I made this last night, to complement the first meal cooked in a new flat and it went down a treat. I saw the picture a week ago and couldn't stop thinking about it - my sugar tooth was squealing with joy. It was so easy to make too except my fingers went a little numb dealing with the icecream. Here's the official drool worthy picture- and my attempt below it.

Here's the recipe if you think it looks as good as I did!

I used passionfruit syrup instead of extract (who on earth stocks that for under a million dollars?) and used Nestle Highlander Sweetened Condensed Milk - Caramel instead of Dulce de Leche. Plus some gluten free ginger biscuits for the base as I wanted my dear gluten free friend to enjoy too!

I also scored big time (I thought!) yesterday on a wee op shop trip. Two pretty blouses, one silk electric blue and the other a light white cotton with star collar, a light white pull over for summer with some cutout detail and some very very metallic high heels. All for $20! Yus!

And I got some map orders finished. Phew. Hello weekend!

I went on a wee road trip (so wee we were there and back within 24 hrs) to the Coromandel this past weekend. It was two good friends birthdays and we celebrated them both. A few pictures of the adventure below, including Coroglens awesome community garden.

Mister morning's logo sports a delightful moustache and since it's the beginning of Movember I thought best to finally write about them. Newish kids on the block, but situated right next to it's mother, Mister Morning is bringing some delight back to the bridge end of K Rd. It's a small little breakfast/lunch house but the coffee is brilliant and the food made me so hungry even after a huge breakfast at home. I visited on my birthday and it was quite a treat.

So please if you are in the neighbourhood pop in and enjoy because I fear if we don't support these delightful places we'll only see more below par stores and liquor shops along that famous road.

Last night I went to the opening of Tartuffe at the new Q theatre in all it's ridiculousness and tonight I'm going to see this.. and I'm rather excited. Happy weekends!

Last night we had a huge load of trick or treaters, we decorated our house the best we could and then they came in droves- I think word got out we were a good house. We even dressed up to answer the door and had a skull that said 'We've been waiting for you' followed by ridiculous sound effects as they approached.

I do love Halloween, it's all in good fun and I have very fond memories of my own trick or treat days (Stanely Bay was the best neighbourhood near us, most houses were decorated each year and we used to drive there to trick or treat!) Once a woman answered the door with a stocking on her head covering her face and she haunts me to this day! My brother had to grab the sweets for me!

The best kid last night launched through the door as I opened it with excitement and shouted 'I've got the trick or treats!!' He was a wee one, his Dad waited patiently at the gate and he stared down the headless dummy by the door as he went back down the path.

At the beginning of the month it was my birthday and we decided to host a movie in our backyard to celebrate it. Keen for a bit of reminiscing we choose Scream and I really can't believe it terrified me so much, this time round it was more like a comedy! Brilliant none the less, and we had popcorn and sweets, cupcakes and face biscuits gorge on.

My lovely friend, Monique, took some pictures of the night, I was so tired (RWC opening was the night before) and running around like a chicken with it's head cut off I didn't take a single snap myself. So these pictures are all hers, she also has a lovely blog. You can read it here.

So I've been reading Frida by Frida for a really long time now. Christmas 2010 infact, I have started to date my books to laugh at how incredibly slow I am at reading. Frida by Frida is rather good in that I can pick it up and put it down when I like and feel like I haven't lost my place- hence reading it since Christmas 2010.

Anyway it's a selection of letters, texts, forward and notes all written by the lady herself, some translated and some written originally in English.

I enjoy the way Frida wrote and have been writing down the bits that I liked most. So I thought why not share them. Here goes, todays note from Frida.

Kraftbomb was on yesterday and although the weather was the pits and daylight savings played havoc with all of us it was a lovely day at the market. A cherry cupcake and Fred's lemonade helps any day feel better I say!

I only managed to take 3 pictures, sorry there isn't more to share! I sold out of all the bunting teacups I made and only have one tumbler left, the lonely one pictured.

So we did the big trip, Whangarei and back in an afternoon and watched the match. I'm quite glad I can now say I attended a game in the Rugby World Cup when it was here on our soil, even though I'm absolutely no rugby head. Being there made me think going to a game is more about the buzz than the rugby. It was fun and I'd happily drive 4 hours again for it.

If you are in Auckland and are looking for something to entertain your early evening on the weekend I highly recommend walking the Fan Trail to Eden Park, even if you aren't going to the game. It starts in the center of the city and all you have to do is follow the footprints. We did it by car this Saturday past, thanks to the rain but it was grand. We had our faces painted, we dressed up like fools, took photobooth pictures, listened to live music, we ate icecreams and didn't spend a single cent. Plus listening to the hollas of all the devoted fans is rather entertaining too.

Since I have no tickets to the New Zealand vs France game this coming weekend I think I'll do the Fan Trail backwards and end up in the city to watch it on the big screen. Join me?

I was very spoilt on my birthday. I got was a 100 pound, yes POUND! (eye balls popped out when I saw it) voucher to asos. And today I spent it. Bird print pants and two hopefully quite good for the impending summer dresses.
